There are great support resources out there if you’re interested in growing your health. Here are some of my favorites.

Some Go-To websites and blogs when researching health issues:

kresserChris Kresser, L.Ac., is a paleo guy who’s a wealth of well-researched information. Want to know the latest on heart health? cholesterol? fish oil? blood sugar balancing? I like his articles because he usually covers a topic in a series, and so you can acquire some depth of understanding as you follow him. chriskresser.com

gottfried Dr. Sara Gottfried is a local Harvard trained gynecologist who specializes in balancing women’s hormones. She’s a yoga teacher, a wise soul and writes like she’s a girlfriend. Runs a lot of online programs which are really wonderful. I’ve been mentoring with her for 8 months now and have been reading everything she writes for years. She’s a prolific writer/blogger. www.saragottfriedmd.com.

Women to Women is a valuable resource when you’d like to do some initial reading about various womentowomenwomen’s health issues. Lots of archives for you to search through. Easy to read. Nice tone. Informative. www.womentowomen.com

ewgThe Environmental Working Group is your friend! This organization provides information about toxicity. You’ll find information about water purity and water filters; information on sunscreens; a great database on ingredients in our cosmetics called Skin Deep; information about the Dirty Dozen (a list of 12 veggies and fruit that are most important to buy organic).  Please peruse the sight and use it to become a more informed and empowered consumer. Current Favorite Health books:

the hormone cure

An excellent book for any woman to understand what the heck is behind good/bad moods, weight gain, cravings, libido loss…and what are safe and effective (non-prescription) methods to right our hormonal ships.

ultra mind

An excellent resource for learning about what’s really behind anxiety, depression, ADHD, and other mental imbalances. A great look “under the hood” of our brain health. Highly recommend.

NDD book

NDD stands for “Nutritional Deficit Disorder.” This book is a quick, easy and powerful read that will give readers the basics for how to heal our kids’ brains from mood and behavioral issue. It teaches  the simple and impactful changes we can make in our families’ diets to bring about positive changes.

helayne

I love this book! I also adore the author, Helayne Waldman. Although this book’s title suggests it’s for survivors of breast cancer, it’s an excellent book about (any) cancer prevention through diet, supplementation and lifestyle changes. Readers will understand the fundamental mechanisms of cancerous cells and learn how to turn the tide against cancerous growth in our bodies.

geneen roth

For any woman who has an emotionally charged relationship with food (and which one of us doesn’t?!), this is the book to read. Geneen Roth is one of the wisest, most compassionate women I’ve read and followed.

My Current Favorite Cookbooks:

Diane is a prolific blogger and has amazing resources. Check her out at Balanced Bites.
